Being in the wedding industry, I’ve learned that everyone has their own definitions of what they’d consider a “fairy tale wedding”. Usually, images of spacious ballrooms first come to mind; with its ornate ceilings punctuated with giant chandeliers filled with hand-strung crystals, and impeccably dressed dinner guests dancing and mingling on the marble floors below. Throw in a few horse and carriages along with some singing forest animals, and now we’ve got ourselves a real-life Disney animated film. But for me as a wedding photographer, my focus has always been on the subjects themselves: their emotions, their thoughts, their aspirations and struggles. Hidden within the expressions on their faces along with their interactions with each other, their family and their friends, there’s a story that is unique only to them. We were honored to have learned this story, and can truly say that Tivoli & David’s wedding at Oheka Castle was indeed a fairy tale wedding, in every sense of the word.
Tivoli & David’s wedding weekend kicked off with a great start, with their festivities taking place at David’s home in Long Island. Things took a slight turn for the worse as the weather forecast called for rain on their second day of wedding celebrations. In the years I’ve been a wedding photographer, one of the things that I tell my couples is that it generally never rains when I shoot weddings (pretty awesome selling point, if you ask me); but I was almost quite certain that I would have to eat my words later that afternoon.
It’s a good thing I didn’t have to eat my words afterall :).
