Did you know: when Karis and I first met, I was sharing a house with my brother, his girlfriend (now wife) along with our 4 dogs and 4 cats (only 3 of those cats were mine…though in typing this, I’m just realizing that my clarification probably makes me seem a tad more crazy). It goes without saying, I have an unhealthy obsession with animals. Sadly, our youngest is allergic to all kinds of furry friends (including hypo-allergenic ones), which means the pets in our homes mostly have fins, and not legs. So when clients ask if they can bring their furry companions along to their engagement session, it’s an absolute no-brainer. We first met Grace & Lawrence at several other weddings over the years – it was only a matter of time before I finally got them in front of our cameras! We started their engagement session in Newark in nearby Branch Brook Park with all the Fall colors in full effect. Even our furry little friend Carmelo here was dressed to par-tay!
Felicia & Dan are two lovebirds who met in college. They now hang their hats in Princeton, which was the perfect backdrop for their fall engagement session. Storm clouds loomed overhead throughout this session, but we had nothing to fear: (1) Felicia knew the odds for a rain-less engagement session were in her favor because it typically doesn’t rain when it’s time for me to shoot. But most importantly, (2) look at all that beautiful diffused lighting! After running around all afternoon with their giant puppy, we wrapped up their wonderful session with some ice cream!
Angela & Matt returned to the bride’s old stomping grounds in NJ to celebrate their big day. You couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful fall day on the Jersey Shore. The ladies spent their morning (and likely some of the previous evening!) putting together their floral arrangements for the weekend, while wearing some of coolest novelty tanktops I’ve ever seen. “Pizza Slayer”? I barely know you, but you are now my new best friend! After a wonderfully sweet first-look at Divine Park, followed by photos at the beach, these two lovebirds made it official with their gorgeous outdoor wedding ceremony and festive wedding reception at The Mill at Spring Lake Heights.

I arrived at the bridal suite that morning amidst a flurry of wedding-related activity. I lost count of all the bridesmaids who were pre-occupied with bridesmaids duties in every corner of the suite, from steaming their dresses to final touches of their make-up in the bathroom. Based on my curiously unverifiable/unsolicited calculations (# of bridesmaids ÷ # of stylists x # of empty cans of red bull in plain sight), these ladies had been up for the last 6-7 hours. Despite this, everyone was in great spirits – as they prepared to celebrate the marriage of two of their favorite people: Terry & Bejoe. Terry & Bejoe tied the knot later that morning at the nearby Ban Suk Korean Methodist Church with a celebration with their family and friends at Da Mikele Illagio!
There were several things I loved about this Princeton engagement session, most of which had everything to do with the fact that Frank was wearing one of my favorite flannel shirts of all time, and that I was “this” close to wearing that exact same shirt that very day! As everyone knows (much to my wife’s chagrin), me and flannel go together like pumpkin and beer (I think) – but I digress. Princeton University is the perfect locale for a beautiful fall engagement session in NJ, which was finished off with some actual pumpkin ale and ice cream. Seriously, could this engagement session possibly be any more awesome-r?
