The moment I first met Donna over the phone, I knew I absolutely had to get these two in front of my camera. These two are a HILARIOUS combination: Donna’s the unrelenting prankster, and Gary’s the good-humoured punching bag that makes this all work. We started their engagement session in the lobby of the W Hotel in Hoboken, where I was instructed to inform Gary that we’d set up a mini-studio in one of the swanky rooms upstairs. Unbeknownst to Gary, Donna had planned a boudoir shoot…for him. For starters, he didn’t even know what a “boudoir shoot” was. And of course, my explanation didn’t help either: “We’ve got some of your underwear, as well as my wife/assistant waiting for you upstairs.”
His face turned white, with a trapped, sad look in his eyes. What had his fiancee signed him up for?
Long story short, there was no boudoir shoot happening at the W that afternoon (and if there was, I certainly wasn’t the one shooting it). The entire thing had been a ruse coordinated by our fun-loving bride-to-be, and for a brief moment, Gary may have been resigned to the fact that this was his life now. If it was going to make his future wife happy, there was very little he would say “no” to. And that, my friends, is the mark of a true gentleman :).
