I’ll always remember one of my most recent meetings with Maricar and Izaak because I had just gotten some dental procedures done that afternoon and my speech was still slurred from all the meds. Despite the fact I had no function/control over my tongue, cheek or lips (and therefore, coherent speech was wishful thinking), we laughed about it like old friends as I attempted in earnest to dine on a tuna sandwich. But the real story here is that Maricar and Izaak have known each other since elementary school, and fate decided to send them on their separate ways for almost 20 years before reuniting them again. It was only appropriate to take their session back to where it all began, back to their childhood stomping grounds in Northern Virginia.
Towards the end of their session, I was plagued with a serious case of the hiccups. I was nearly on my knees when I snapped that last image. While holding my breath, I motioned to them that the show had to go on and that my lungs would (probably) forgive me later. Thankfully, they nailed it on two quick takes and we continued on our quest to find me some water. Maricar and Izaak, thank you so much for showing us your old stomping grounds and we look forward to seeing you guys again in a few months! I’ll make sure to bring plenty of water just in case :).
