Whenever there’s snow in the forecast (or when we know it’s going to be really, really cold), we generally go through a brainstorming session with our clients before their engagement session/wedding day. When Paulina first suggested an abandoned airfield, she excitedly whipped out her phone scrolled through all these images she had found online. At that moment, I had two thoughts: (1) Shame on me for not knowing there was an abandoned airfield nearby that was accessible to the public. (2) This engagement session was going to be AWESOME.
Our session started in Red Hook, right before it started to snow. After several healthy servings of wine, we made our way to the “abandoned airfield” (which is probably the best state-of-mind one should be in, when one is on the hunt for secret, abandoned airfield….in the middle of a snow storm). Much to our dismay, we would soon discover that the images of an empty hangar that we’d found online was a few years old. Where the hangar once stood was a newly renovated community center. Bummers.
Thankfully, we had a few tricks up our sleeves :).
